Bible Covers

If your well used Bible is falling apart, have a new cover built for it, stretched in durable leather with copper embellishment, or any Custom Design of your choice. Brand new Bibles may also be used.

Store bought and mass-produced Bibles consist of ‘Bonded Leather.?This inferior product is composed of tiny leather particles pressed together, which rips and falls apart easily. I use solid leather, archival glue, plus two layers of 55 lb. tensile strength fabric to reinforce the spine and hinges.

•   I completely remove the old cover from your Bible and construct a brand new hard cover.

•  Decorative Binding Cords are applied to the spine.
  
•  Archival, permanently flexible bookbinding glue reinforces the spine to ensure that it will not crack over time with continued bending (as poor quality or old books often do).
  
•  Two layers of 55 pound tensile strength fabric reinforce the cover hinges, both under the leather and under the endsheets to ensure optimum durability.
  
•  A Copper Cross is hand cut and sanded. Patina is applied (optional). The Cross is then wired directly through the cover for firm attachment. It rests on 3-dimensional layers of embossed leather for visual appeal and dimension.
  
•  A built-in bookmark is attached to the spine in your choice of either a leather pagemarker, or several ribbons.
  
•  Your Bible will be completed with handmade papers for coversheets.
•  Handstitched Headbands are optional. These leather cords are stitched directly onto the spine ends, wrapped with colorful threads. They add extra durability to the spine, protect the edges, and accent the coversheet colors. Add $30 for this option. •  Some page restoration or rebinding is possible. If needed, price to be determined upon examination of the Bible.
  
•  I am happy to order a brand new sewn Bible for you, on which I will create a custom leather cover. Or you may send your own either new or used Bible. A used Bible will usually include an approximate $35 refurbishment fee for removal of old glue to prepare the Bible for a new archival cover.
• Signature sewn Bibles are most suitable for recovering (where pages are folded in half and sewn together). Bibles composed of single pages just glued together (unsewn) have weak structural integrity. However, if you are attached to your unsewn Bible, I offer a Japanese binding technique to reinforce the internal structure. The stitching will add the binding strength needed to appropriately accommodate a new cover and ensure the book will never fall apart. This option is $50.

The Standard Cross design is $225 on a 5" x 7" Bible Cover.
